Pre-Sukkot

We are heading into Sukkot (The Feast of Tabernacles)! Yesterday evening we had the pleasure of building a sukkah (a temporary shelter) on the roof of the home we’re staying in. The other family that is living here brought one with them when they moved and we all helped each other with setting it up. It was a tremendous blessing to experience building a sukkah in the Land of Israel.

The little ones were making up songs about building the sukkah. We were listening to music, cleaning and making fun of ourselves for goofy mistakes as we put it together. In spite of the lock down, the Father has allowed Earlene and I to taste the sweetness of this holiday already. We may not be in Jerusalem, but we are in Israel so He has been faithful to bring it to fulfillment.

Hopefully we can find some fun things to share with you each day of the seven days of this festival. It’s really one of my favorite times of the year. This is the time of the year I know many people are celebrating the birth of Yeshua (Jesus) and it’s also very symbolic of the Wedding Feast and the New Covenant. Nothing about this Appointed Time is old and outdated. If anything, much of its meaning hasn’t happened yet.

Here are some pictures of our time yesterday building the Sukkah. We would love if you would share your Sukkah pictures with us so we can celebrate with you even from afar.

  • Just finished setting up the frame of the Sukkah
  • Adding the ties to add strength to the frame and also cleaning the poles
